Schock Metal America, Inc.,
Expands Chesapeake Facility

- Company is the International Division of Germany's Schock Metallwerk, GmbH -

CHESAPEAKE, VIRGINIA… Schock Metal America, Incorporated, the international division of Schock Metallwerk, GmbH, has announced the expansion of its Chesapeake facility and move to the Battlefield Lakes Tech Center. The Schock company, a German based manufacturer of high quality steel and stainless steel ball bearing slides, views the move into a new state of the art building as an indication of their continued growth and recognition in their industry.

"This new facility represents an important milestone for the company," said Jason W. Messinger, Executive Vice President for Schock Metal America. "It allows us to comfortably expand our warehousing, sales and small assembly capabilities as well as future engineering and manufacturing space in accordance with current growth projections for the next five years."

Schock Metal America first came to Chesapeake in 1997. Increased sales and continued demand for high quality, customer oriented applications, specialty items and custom designs, as well as shorter lead-time capabilities led to the expansion of one of Chesapeake's growing number of international companies.

"The expansion of Schock Metal America means a great deal to the City and region," said Chesapeake Mayor William E. Ward. "Successful companies require easy access to suppliers and customers, a safe working and living environment, a well-trained labor force, and an overall environment that understands and supports the business community. The continued growth of international companies such as Schock Metal demonstrates that Chesapeake is a major player in the global economy."

Established in 1924, Schock Metallwerk, GmbH, parent company of Schock Metal America, Inc., a privately-held corporation, offers an extensive line of quality steel and stainless steel ball bearing slides and system solutions for many different industries and applications including, but not limited to, wood and metal furniture, automotive, electronics, ATM's, appliances, aeronautics, laboratory, boating, recreational vehicles and vending machines.

Schock Metallwerk GmbH has a total of four manufacturing facilities in Germany, Spain, and the Czech Republic totaling over 250,000 square feet. The company has established sales and distribution operations in over eighteen countries.
